Mrs. Sarkissian participated at the regional conference on Women's Empowerment in Afghanistan

The spouse of the President of Armenia Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian today in Astana participated at the Women’s Empowerment in Afghanistan regional conference.

The spouse of the President of Armenia Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian made a statement in which she stressed in particular the role of education and knowledge for the women’s empowerment in Afghanistan.

At the conference speeches were delivered by the State Secretary of Kazakhstan G. Abdikalikova, Minister of Foreign Affairs K. Abdrakhmanov, Afghani Minister on women’s issues D. Nazari, Noble Peace Prize Winner T. Karman (Yemen), Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs E. Puma, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Women’s issues N. German, renowned world and regional state and public figures. Advisor to the US President Ivanka Trump and EU High Commissioner Frederica Mogherini made video addresses.

The Conference has concluded with the adoption of a Declaration.
