The President of the Republic met with the Leadership of the International Weightlifting Federation

The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, today received the delegation of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), headed by President Mohammed Jalood Al-Shammari.

Welcoming the guests at the beginning of the meeting, the President emphasized that Armenia has a decades-long tradition of excellence in weightlifting. He added that the Armenian government continues to make every effort to uphold these high standards.

The head of the International Weightlifting Federation, reaffirming the significant contribution of Armenian athletes to the sport, noted that Armenia will undoubtedly be ready to host the 2027 World Weightlifting Championship at the highest level, where the best results in the sport will be showcased.

He praised the Armenian government, the national weightlifting federation, and the head coach of the national team for their extensive preparatory efforts.

In his concluding remarks, the President of the Republic noted that sport is one of the best ways to represent a nation to the world. He emphasized that the Armenian government is implementing large-scale programs to promote and improve conditions for both professional sports and physical education in educational institutions.
