President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation headed by the Military Attorney General of Italy at the Court of Cassation, Maurizio Block.

Welcoming the guests, the President said: "I am confident that Your visit will further strengthen cooperation between the law enforcement systems of our two countries.

It turned out that cooperation in the law enforcement system played a very important role in the multifaceted Armenian-Italian relations as well. It became more noticeable in the last two or three years. Currently, we are living in a period of serious reforms. This applies to all state institutions, in particular the judicial and law enforcement systems. Our judicial and law enforcement systems must be able to become the most important institutions of a democratic country, which must ensure the safety of our citizens, administer justice, and most importantly, serve society, not individual groups.

Italy has extensive experience, including in the fight against organized crime, and in this regard, cooperation with You is very important.

Contacts in various formats of this cooperation, which are carried out both through such official visits and holding various or even joint conferences, are appreciated.

Expressing gratitude for the reception Maurizio Block, said: "I hope that our relations are not only purely business, but also friendly. These days we had the opportunity to meet with both representatives of civil society and the military prosecutor's office. We have identified similarities and differences in our systems."

During the meeting, issues related to ways and opportunities to share best practices of countries in the process of implementing reforms of the judicial and legal system were discussed.

Both sides stressed the importance of consistent efforts and strong political will to implement reforms in this sphere, which should guarantee the independence and impartiality of the judicial system.
