President Vahagn Khachaturyan meets with Thierry Kovacs, Vice President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region of France
President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Thierry Kovacs, Vice President of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, the mayor of the region's city of Vienne vastly populated by Armenians.
Thierry Kovacs is in Armenia as an envoy of Laurent Wauquiez, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, who visited Armenia with a representative delegation in March of this year and signed a cooperation agreement with the Syunik region. During the visit, Thierry Kovacs is accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Vienne, Levon Sakunts who is of Armenian origin.
Welcoming the guest, the President thanked for intense activity and effective cooperation.
"I firmly believe that many issues are being addressed with your support and your kind attitude is an inspiration for our citizens," the President noted.
Thierry Kovacs expressed his gratitude for the reception and introduced President Khachaturyan to the details of the programs envisaged within the framework of his visit.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the focus areas of joint initiatives to be implemented in Syunik marz and communities.
The sides also touched upon the possibilities and prospects of enhancing contacts at the local level between the communities of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France and Syunik marz.
During the discussion, ideas were exchanged on the protection of the rights of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and the priorities and options for addressing humanitarian issues.
