The newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
Welcoming the newly appointed Ambassador, President Vahagn Khachaturyan congratulated him on his appointment to this responsible position and wished him fruitful work during his diplomatic service.
“We are very happy with your appointment. Armenian-Georgian relations have always been exceptional for me. I think that continuing and developing the centuries-old friendship between our peoples is a great duty for every official of the two countries.
In honour of the current governments of our two counties, we can say that everything is being done to develop and deepen our economic, political and cultural relations and ties even further.
I believe our relations can be exemplary for many peoples in the world. There are few countries that have such centuries-old ties, have lived side by side, have never been at war with each other throughout history, and haven’t had any conflicts.
I am sure that you, too, will continue these traditions and customs. Together, we will do everything to raise our relations to a new level,” said President Khachaturyan.
Expressing his gratitude for the reception, the newly appointed Ambassador noted: “Mr. President, thank you for your wishes and such a warm welcome. Indeed, our relations are exceptional, for it is truly difficult to find peoples that have lived side by side like us. We should, of course, pass it all to our coming generations. I agree that we need to reinvigorate our relations.
During my mission, I will, surely, do everything to try and develop some directions, and contribute to the activation of dialogue between the young people and the formation of closer relations in fields of culture and economy.”
During the meeting, the sides discussed some issues on the agenda regarding the fields of Armenian-Georgian multi-level cooperation and directions for promoting interaction between the business circles of Armenia and Georgia.
They also touched upon regional problems and the prospects for their solution. Both sides emphasized the need to establish stable and everlasting peace in the South Caucasus.
