The expectations from you, as Yerevan State University, are very high. President Khachaturyan met with the members of the YSU Scientific Council
Today, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with members of the Scientific Council at Yerevan State University.
Thanking the President for accepting the invitation, the YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that it has already become an established tradition when the first persons of the country visit the YSU and discuss various issues with the faculty and students. "The YSU has been, and will remain, the heart of our country, and the driving force in the field of education and science," emphasized the Rector. - The quality of education has been and remains the main problem for us. We must do our best to ensure an education of satisfying quality, and on this road, we actively cooperate with both international partners and other universities," he underscored. Rector Hovhannisyan presented the programs of some reforms and the process of structural changes, implemented at the university.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan greeted those present and thanked them for the invitation.
"It is a great honour to be here. I am one of you, and I am ready to put the presidential institution at the service of any issue for the development of education, especially science. The expectations from you, as Yerevan State University, are very high from the society, the citizens, and the state. The only potential for the development of the Republic of Armenia is science, education, and people; we have no other choice. We must be able to use that potential, and your contribution to that issue is very significant," said President Khachaturyan.
The President also noted that, due to his official position, he cannot continue lecturing at present. But if they need him in the universities, and if he feels that there is a need for a lecture, there is a need to convey something, he is always ready to do so.
President Khachaturyan emphasized the provision of quality education and the training of highly qualified specialists. Referring to the existing problems and challenges, the President noted: "If we do not act in consolidation, we will not be able to move forward. The Republic of Armenia needs educated people."
The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Vahram Dumanyan, who was present at the meeting, referred to the problems of education, particularly the higher education system, emphasizing that education and science are related and cannot function separately. He attached great importance to the role and significance of YSU.
Then, President Khachaturyan answered the questions of the members of YSU Scientific Council, and touched upon various issues.
