President Sarkissian receives French Senate’s France-Armenia Friendship Group delegation

RA President Armen Sarkissian received a delegation headed by Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, the President of French Senate’s France-Armenia Friendship Group (hereinafter Friendship Group).

Highly appreciative of those valuable efforts exerted by the Friendship Group, the President of Armenia said this is a meeting with true friends. Armen Sarkissian advised that Armenia will host the 17th Francophone Summit in October, which is a landmark event symbolizing the deeply-rooted strong ties between Armenia and France.

Pleased with the dynamically developing Armenian-French cooperation, the interlocutors attached importance to the further expansion of its economic component.

President Sarkissian and the President of the Friendship Group referred to those changes taking place in Armenia. The President of Armenia emphasized that democracy in our country has no other way of development than dialogue and tolerance: Armenia is facing a transitional period and has many problems to solve.

Armen Sarkissian expressed confidence that Armenia will cover this path in an atmosphere of tolerance in line with the country’s Constitution and laws.
