President visits National Center of Oncology, gets acquainted with hotel industry development process in Yerevan
Today, on the eve of the World Cancer Day, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the National Oncology Center after Fanarjyan by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia.
The President toured the renovated general and pediatric chemotherapy wards to inspect the work done so far and the conditions conducive to quality healthcare services. The responsible officials introduced the structural changes and innovations carried out in an effort to handle patients more quickly and efficiently. The newly opened ward has a separate reception desk, an electronic service system and several rooms for planned examinations.
National Oncology Center Manager Armen Tananyan briefed the President on recent activities and the work to be done in 2018 in order to improve conditions for scientific-clinical activity, accommodation and technical refurbishment.
Appreciating the activities carried out to provide quality healthcare services, Serzh Sargsyan expressed readiness to support the Center’s development programs.
The President next got acquainted with the hotel industry development process in the capital city. Serzh Sargsyan called at the Ibis Yerevan Kentron and the Golden Palace Boutique Hotel downtoawn Yerevan. The Head of State toured the hotels to get acquainted with the work done so far, investments, jobs and the quality of services.
Affiliated to the world-famous AccorHotels network, the Ibis Yerevan Kentron is cooperating with the worldwide hotel network to meet the strictest international requirements and is one of the largest hotels in Armenia with some 255 rooms.
The President of Armenia was informed that the Ibis Yerevan Kentron hosted about 18,500 guests from more than 80 countries in 2017. This year, the number of visitors is expected to increase by at least 25 percent. The hotel has 98 employees, with an average salary of 245 000 drams. The total investment made for the construction of the hotel totaled around AMD 10 billion.
The Golden Palace Boutique Hotel, an affiliate of Golden Palace Hotel LLC which has made a significant contribution to hotel construction and tourism in our country, has been operating since January 2018, providing around 40 jobs with 200,000-250,000 drams in average salary.

The cost of construction and furnishing of the Golden Palace Boutique Hotel totaled around USD 15 million.
