President introduced to Armenian technological university establishment concept

President Serzh Sargsyan was introduced to the concept of establishment of the Technological University of Armenia. During a consultation attended by public officials in charge of education and other stakeholders, Adviser to President Mesrop Aramyan and Deputy Minister of Education and Science David Sahakyan reported on the approaches and principles of establishing a technological university in our country.

They pointed out that as a matter of fact, the large amount of work that was done last year followed up the results of RA President’s visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016, after which an attempt was made to develop a program aimed at founding a technological university in Armenia to meet the highest international standards, based on partnership and cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and other prestigious universities.

The University shall focus on the development of breakthrough trends in the field of high technologies. Thanks to cooperation with Armenian and foreign universities and research institutes, the graduates of the University will have the opportunity to receive two diplomas: one from the Armenian Technological University, and another – from the partner university.

The developers of the concept consider that the availability of such a university in Armenia is the imperative of today’s technological era. According to its authors, the global trends in high technologies, the scientific and technological potential of Armenia’s universities, research centers and that of the Diaspora have been studied. The President instructed to elaborate the concept and submit a finalized version to the Government
