President receives Indonesian parliamentary delegation
President Serzh Sargsyan received today the delegation headed by Irman Gusman, speaker of the Regional Representative Council (Senate) of the Republic of Indonesia. The president welcomed the dignitary and his delegation, stressing that Armenia is always glad to host representatives of friendly countries.
Serzh Sargsyan attached importance to reciprocal visits which, according to him, give a new quality and meaning to interstate relations, providing an opportunity to thoroughly discuss the bilateral collaboration agenda.
Armenia’s president expressed the hope that the visit of the speaker of Indonesia’s Regional Representative Council will give a breath of fresh air to the historical friendship between the two peoples.
At the meeting, the parties placed importance on the promotion of active cooperation between the legislatures to strengthen and develop Armenian-Indonesian relations and on the establishment of friendship groups in the two countries’ parliaments to that end.
Serzh Sargsyan noted that the opening of the Armenian embassy in Jakarta in 2013 is another testimony of our country’s desire to develop relations with Indonesia.
Serzh Sargsyan and Irman Gusman also attached importance to the intensification of trade and economic ties between Armenia and Indonesia and to carrying out consistent work aimed at the promotion of multifaceted economic cooperation, as well as to the development of an appropriate legal framework for that purpose.
The interlocutors reflected upon the level of collaboration between the two friendly countries within the frames of international organizations, exchanged views on regional issues and challenges, as well as on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
