President meets with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfvén in Riga
President Serzh Sargsyan today had a meeting with Prime Minister Stefan Löfvén of the Kingdom Sweden in Riga.
The parties discussed issues pertaining to Armenian-Swedish bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation, as well as to promoting cooperation between Armenia and the European Union (EU) within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
Noting that Armenia is among the EU’s strategic partners in the region, the Swedish prime minister welcomed Armenia’s policy towards becoming a bridge connecting the Eurasian Union and the EU which he is sure may grow into an important platform for cooperation.
The RA president and the Sweden’s prime gave particular importance to trade and economic ties in interstate relations and stressed the need to make joint efforts at stimulating and encouraging Swedish investments in and new companies’ entry into the Armenian market.
Serzh Sargsyan and Stefan Löfvén placed importance on the activities of the respective embassies in Yerevan and Stockholm in the further strengthening of Armenian-Swedish relations.
The interlocutors also discussed issues related to promoting collaboration between the two countries within the frame of international organizations.
At the meeting, President Serzh Sargsyan thanked Swedish authorities for Sweden’s official participation in the commemorative events marking the Armenian Genocide Centenary held in Yerevan in April this year.
