President Sargsyan met with the representatives of the Board of the Union of the Communities of Armenia

Today, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Union of the Communities of Armenia President Sargsyan met with the representatives of the Board of the Union.

The President of Armenia congratulated the representatives of the Union on the jubilee, stressed the importance of that unique and reputable structure, which was created at will of the communities, and wished them new success.

At the meeting, the members of the Board of the Union of the Communities of Armenia conversed with the President on a number of issues, among them continued policies of decentralization and possibilities of development in that process, efficiency of the multiple powers handed over to the communities, issues related to the programs and approaches aimed at the enhancement of the development of local capabilities, issues related to the rural and especially small communities and some other topics related to the local self-governance.

Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the participants of the meeting on the approaching holidays and wished them all the best.

The Union of the Communities of Armenia, which is a union of physical persons which comprises numerous RA municipal, rural and Yerevan communities, acts as a representative of the interests of the local self-governing bodies, participating together with the Government of Armenia in the development of the reform programs and legislative amendments, organization of the international expertise for the drafts of the laws pertinent to the local self-governing bodies. It also represents the united position of the communities in Armenia and beyond.
