The newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia presented his credentials to Serzh Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Armenia Guy Trouveroy (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on his new position and wished him success. Serzh Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-Belgian relations are on a high level and said that Armenia is interested in further developing relations with Belgium which is a founding state of the European Union.
The President of Armenia thanked the authorities and people of Belgium for the assistance provided to our country in the past twenty years of our independence and constantly considerate attitude towards the Armenian-Belgian community. Serzh Sargsyan spoke with appreciation about providing shelter, extending the opportunities to live and create to those of our compatriots who managed to escape the Genocide in the beginning of the last century and whose descendants today constitute the core of the Armenian-Belgian community.
The President also underscored that Armenia and the Armenian people highly value Belgium’s official recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Ambassador Guy Trouveroy stressed the role of the Armenian community of Belgium in strengthening the bilateral relations and noted that because of the Armenian community, the Armenian people, their rich history and culture are held in high esteem in his country.
The parties highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in international organizations, as well as in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership program and development of the Armenian-Belgian ties.
