Serzh Sargsyan awarded a group of the RA Police Force members with high state distinctions and ranks

On the occasion of Police Day, President Serzh Sargsyan awarded a group of the RA Police Force members with high state distinctions and ranks for their contribution to the strengthening of the Force and courage manifested during the execution of duties.

By the decree of the President of Armenia, Deputy Head of the RA Police, General Major of Police Sasha Afian was awarded the rank of General Lieutenant of Police; Police Chief of Staff, Colonel Vardan Eghiazarian was awarded the rank of General Major.

The first degree medal “For Services to Motherland” was awarded to the RA Deputy Head of Police, General Lieutenant Hovhannes Hunanian; District Senior Inspector of the Prevention Unit at the Vagharshapat division of RA Police Armavir regional department Mayor Tigran Mnatsakanian was awarded the “Active Service” medal.

The “Excellent Service in Maintaining Public Order” medal was awarded to the Head of the II Department of the Chief Investigative Department RA Police, Mayor Arsen Ayvazian; Deputy Head of the RA Police Shirak regional department, Colonel Vahram Engoyan; policeman of the security division of the Mashtots community internal affairs division of Yerevan, Junior Sergeant Arthur Khatchaturian (posthumously); Head of the III Department of the Chief Investigative Department RA Police, Colonel Vardan Hovsepian; policeman-driver at the security division of the Mashtots community internal affairs division of Yerevan, Senior Sergeant Grigor Hunanian (posthumously); Deputy Head of RA Police Kotayk marz department, Colonel Manvel Vardanian. “Mkhitar Gosh” medal was awarded to the Head of the RA Police Legal Department, Colonel Tatul Petrossian.

The President of Armenia congratulated the recipients of the high state awards and underscored that the awards represent the state’s assessment of their work and hold a great value for the policemen who are dedicated to their mission and calling.

“You’re halfway to get to your goal, if you have confidence that you will get there. I am starting to see more confidence in you regarding your own abilities; I see faith, and it is pleasing,” President Sargsyan said in his congratulatory remarks on the occasion of the policemen professional holiday and assured that any positive change in their work, any new approach and a new line of conduct is observed and is duly assessed by their addressee – the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

“Become a modern police force and you will take pride in your own achievements. You possess a historic opportunity to fundamentally change the image of the police in the society,” President Sargsyan underlined.

Esteem members of the Police Force,
I congratulate you on the occasion of Police Day.

I believe no one here doubts that I know all about your service, about its hardships and problems. The Armenian Police continues to walk the road of difficult reforms. I state with satisfaction that the results of the reformation are observable.

You’re halfway to get to your goal, if you have confidence that you will get there. I am starting to see more confidence in you regarding your own abilities; I see faith, and it is pleasing.

You are once again required to display absolute composure and restrain on one hand and resolve on the other hand. The Police professional should be able to clearly define that line which is not easy. I know that there are many professionals in your ranks and the number of professionals grows. I wish you success in this difficult endeavour.

Be assured that any positive change in your work, any new approach and a new line of conduct is observed and is duly assessed by your main addressee – the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. Become a modern police force and you will take pride in your own achievements. You possess a historic opportunity to fundamentally change the image of the police in the society, make sure you don’t loose that opportunity.
