President Serzh Sargsyan received the winners of the artistic and scientific works competition organized by the Union of Russian Armenians and the World Armenian Congress

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the winners of the artistic and scientific works competition organized by the Union of Russian Armenians and the World Armenian Congress as well as the leaders of the corresponding scientific and artistic organizations. At the meeting present were also the Minister of Diaspora Affairs Hranush Hakopian and Chairman of the Union of Russian Armenians and World Armenian Congress Ara Abrahamian.
President Sargsyan congratulated recipients of the awards and expressed appreciation for the works carried out by the Union of Russian Armenians and World Armenian Congress. The President of the Republic said that it was important that the competition is continuous and tends to expand since, according to the President, there are many areas which need it. Serzh Sargsyan stressed, in particular, the area of Armenian studies as well as the competition in “the best officer” and “the best soldier” nominations which is conducted in the army. “I am confident that the award or the title, if you will, will go to one of the best, and it is very important. I also view as important the proposal made by Mr. Ara Abrahamian during the World Armenian Congress to establish the Panarmenian Economic Congress. If we succeed in creating such a forum, I am confident that as a result we will have efficient economic ties which will be beneficial for the persons involved, for our people and our country. As leadership of the country, we are ready to do our part,” President Sargsyan said.
The President stressed also the importance of organizing this competition among youth and to encourage young talents as much as possible.
“Youth needs support and encouragement, and in that case we will have much more tangible results. In this case too, if it is necessary to join efforts, we are ready,” the President of Armenia said.
Noting, that the contest is conducted in partnership with the state bodies and their assistance and first of all, with the Ministry of Diaspora, Serzh Sargsyan underscored the importance of joining forces for the common task. “When we join forces, the results are much more observable,” the President of Armenia underlined, bringing the example of the Armenian national football team, Armenian chess players, who are recently coming home with impressive results and numerous other examples.
The Chairman of the Union of Russian Armenians and World Armenian Congress Ara Abrahamian expressed gratitude to the President of Armenia for constant assistance provided during the implementation of their programs and today’s reception. “There are all necessary conditions for living and implementing programs in Armenia. Mechanisms of cooperation with the authorities are precise. With this regard, it is very important that the President fulfilled his pre-election promise to establish Ministry of Diaspora and now we are implementing our programs in close cooperation with that Ministry, the Academy of Sciences of Armenia and other state bodies,” Ara Abrahamian said.
President Sargsyan answered also the questions raised by the participants of the meeting.
