President Serzh Sargsyan received the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Valeri Zorkin
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Valeri Zorkin. He has arrived to Armenia on official visit to participate at the international conference dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia which kicks off on October 22.
Underscoring the high level of the Armenian-Russian relations, the President of Armenia noted that the first state visit of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Armenia last August gave a new impetus to the strengthening and deepening of these relations in all areas.
The President of Armenia stressed also the importance of cooperation between the Constitutional Courts of the two countries and experience sharing. Serzh Sargsyan noted that nowadays the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia is one of the most consummate state institutions and though only 15 years old it has passed thorough a difficult but at the same time responsible times.
The President of Armenia spoke also about the amendments introduced into the Constitution of the RA in 2005, which allowed citizens to appeal to the Constitutional Court and currently the Court properly defends the constitutional rights of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the Chairman of the RF Constitutional Court Valeri Zorkin, constitutional justice is held in high esteem in Armenia which is witnessed by the organization of an international conference in Yerevan. Praising cooperation between the Constitutional Courts of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, Valeri Zorkin underlined that relations between the Courts of the two countries successfully develop also on the international arena.
