The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to RA presented his credentials to President Sargsyan
Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia Li Yun-hoi (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President of Armenia congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic activities in our country. President Sargsyan noted that groundwork has been laid for the development of political and economic relations between Armenia and Korea which allows to utilize the existing great potential for the benefit of our two countries and two nations.
President Sargsyan said that lately the turnover between our countries made Korea one of Armenia’s major economic partners. According to the President of Armenia, Korean goods and technologies have good repute and demand in the Armenian market which is evidenced by the construction in Yerevan of a new thermo-electrical station based to Korean technologies and with the participation of the Korean specialists.
The parties concurred that the Armenian goods can have great demand if properly presented on the Korean market. Ambassador Li Yun-hoi noted that cooperation with Armenia in areas such as IT, mining, tourism and science has serious potential, especially considering that Korea has huge experience in IT area. “I used to be the Minister of Knowledge Economy in the Korean Government. We attach utmost attention to the development of science and innovations and now I, as Ambassador, will do my best to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia,” the Korean Ambassador said.
He also noted that Armenia and Korea have many similarities. For instance, as countries with scare natural resources both are striving to develop science through highly educated human resources and science-based economy. The Korean Ambassador observed also similarities in the histories of two nations – both were full of challenges and tragic events. According to the Ambassador, today too, the situation in the region is volatile and his country comprehends all the concerns and difficulties related to the NK conflict resolution. He said that Korea supports efforts aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The President of Armenia expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for the unbiased stance which also expressed by Korea’s approaches to the NK conflict resolution issues at the United Nations.
