President Serzh Sargsyan arrived to Armavir on a working visit
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan arrived to Armavir on a working visit.
The President participated at the inauguration of the renovated main building of the medical center, familiarized with the capacities and laboratory facilities of the building. The renovation of the building was realized through the cooperation of the Government of Armenia and the World Bank in the framework of the WB Modernization of the RA Medical Structure loan program and is stimulated by the strategy of optimization of the RA health care system, which is aimed at the enhancement of the quality and efficiency of Armenia’s medical systems.
The President of Armenia visited also the refurbished Armavir Chess School for young players. He toured the School and observed the ongoing chess tournament.
Later, at the administrative office of Armavir, President Sargsyan discussed the social and economic issues with the Governor of the marz Ashot Ghahramanian.
In the framework of his working visit, the President of Armenia visited also Myasnikian community of Armavir marz, where he participated at the official opening of the Children of Jesus Medical Center. The new Center was sanctified by the Catholicos of All Armenians, Garegin II. The renovation of the Center was made through the efforts of Pakumean Family Benevolent Fund and with the participation of other benefactors. During the tour of the Center, the creator of the Foundation and Director of the Board Karo Armen and benefactor George Pakumean presented to the President of Armenia other programs, including the renovation of the community’s high-school, and projects of the Children of Armenia Foundation aimed at the improvement of health care, education, infrastructure, economic development and tackling the social issues.
“ I am happy that here, in this community, a number of our devoted compatriots have initiated works which are all about good, about alleviating the problems of their compatriots. I know Karo Armen for almost six years and through the years his enthusiasm has not diminished, on the contrary, he has gathered around him like-minded people and has done new acts of kindness,” President Sargsyan said, handing to Mr. Karo Armen the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia. According to the President of Armenia, Armenians all over the world must know that they are always welcome in Armenia, they are welcome to work and to live in Armenia, to make charitable works.
The Chairman of the Board of the Children of Armenia Foundation Karo Armen said that it was great honor for him to become a citizen of Armenia and noted that he was particularly proud to receive the passport from the President of the Republic. He assured that the Armenians in Diaspora are first of all proud to be Armenians.
At the opening ceremony of the Children of Jesus Medical Center, George Pakumean - another prominent benefactor - was awarded with the commemorative medal of the Prime Minister of Armenia for a number of charitable programs implemented in Armenia and his significant contribution to the area.
