Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Luis Moreno-Ocampo, Prosecutor of the Hague International Criminal Court (ICC), who has arrived to Armenia to participate at the 37th conference of the International Federation for Human Rights.
Welcoming the guest, President Sargsyan said, “Protection of human rights is very important for us, as well as the presence in our country of the individuals who possess vast experience and have played significant role in the condemnation of crimes against humanity.” He added that “it is particularly important in the light of the fact that recently one of the most horrific crimes against humanity – the Armenian Genocide - has been much spoken about. Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo noted that their activities were aimed at the protection of human rights and one of the primary goals was prevention of future genocides.
The President of Armenia and Prosecutor of the International Court in the Hague talked about the possibilities of cooperation and discussed how the Court may assist Armenia in becoming more protected.
