President Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation of AGBU
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, headed by the President of the AGBU Berge Sedrakian.
Welcoming our compatriots from Diaspora, President Serzh Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the fact that each time they visit Armenia the AGBU delegations become larger and larger.
“The more active you become, the more happy we are with the fact,” the President of Armenia said and expressed readiness to assist and support their initiatives and projects.
President Sargsyan handed passports of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to the distinguished philanthropist, member of the AGBU Council of Trustees Nazar Nazarian and his spouse.
The well-known benefactor said that for him Armenia’s independence was a dream come true and he was inspired by his visit to the Motherland.
Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the office of the Armenian General Benevolent Union - one of the most renowned structures of Diaspora – would open its doors in the center of Yerevan as soon as possible.
In his turn, the President of the AGBU Berge Sedrakian said that in course of time all the Diaspora institutions should become Armenia-based. “Regardless of where we are now, our foremost place is here,” stressed Berge Sedrakian.
The President of Armenia and the representatives of the AGBU spoke about the protection of the Spyurk’s potential, empowerment of Motherland, consolidation of the nation around the all-national ideas, and the issues related to the preservation of the Armenian identity.
Noting, that in recent years relations and cooperation with Armenia have become much more genial, the members of the AGBU said that the Union would continue its assistance and support to the President and his national programs.
