President Serzh Sargsyan received the crew of Armenia sail boat
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the crew of Armenia sail boat, who concluding successfully the first leg of their world voyage, have returned to Armenia.
Welcoming the crew of the first Armenian sail boat, which has undertaken a world voyage, the President of Armenia said, “You have accomplished huge work sailing through the oceans and seas for months under the colors of Armenia, Artsakh, and Armenian Apostolic Church and visiting Armenian communities abroad.
Though a land-locked country, our nation has many sons who are able to subdue the seas and oceans to their will. We have always been like that. Our nation has great sons and daughters, who having never been to Armenia created invaluable historical, geographical, and Armenia related works; those who having never seen Mountain Ararat were able to paint it magnificently on the canvas, and our sons born in the mountains were able to achieve the highest naval rank of the admiral and navy commanders. We are destined to.
And you, through this months long work of yours, and it is a hard work indeed, or service, have been able to prove that we can do that too. I am very grateful. Certainly, I understand how difficult it must be to tame the elements and at the same time to create, to write which is not less important. Once again, I express my gratitude, and let 2010 be the year of our even more impressive success.”
The crew of Armenia boat handed to the President of Armenia the tricolor that was waving on the boat during the voyage.
The head of Mesrop Mashtots expedition Zori Balayan and captain of Armenia Samvel Karapetian told President Sargsyan about the journey and warm reception they received from the Armenian communities abroad. They also told the President of Armenia about the captivating episodes of their voyage, rich with storms and unexpected events.
