President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers will conduct a three-day state visit to Armenia
By the invitation of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, on December 9 the President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers and spouse Lilita Zatlers will conduct a three-day state visit to Armenia. The Presidential delegation comprises the Ministers of Economy, Internal Affairs, Environment, the Chairman of the Parliamentary commission on foreign relations, and other officials.
Same day, Mr. and Mrs. Zatlers accompanied by the President of Armenia and Mrs. Rita Sargsyan will attend festive events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the scientific and research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts – Matenadaran.
The official ceremony of welcoming the President of Latvia will take place on December 10 at the Presidential Palace and will be followed by a private meeting of the two Presidents. Later, the delegations will meet in the extended format. After the meeting, there will take place the ceremony of signing of the intergovernmental and interagency documents. The Presidents of Armenia and Latvia will give a joint press conference.
Later, President Sargsyan and Mrs. Sargsyan will give a state dinner in honor of the President of Latvia and Mrs. Zatlers.
In the framework of his visit, the President of Latvia will meet with the Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamian, the Prime Minister Tigran Sarkissian, will be hosted by the His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. The Presidents of Armenia and Latvia will participate at the opening ceremony of the Armenian-Latvian business forum.
President Zatlers will visit the Genocide Memorial and lay a wreath at the monument. He will tour the Genocide Museum and plant a tree at the Remembrance square.
In Yerevan State University the President of Latvia will meet with the faculty and students.
At the Yerevan City Hall, the President of Latvia will meet with Mayor Gagik Beglarian and a group of distinguished citizens, and will visit the Museum of Yerevan history.
While in Yerevan, President Zatlers will visit also the Brandy factory and Matenadaran.
The delegation headed by the President of Latvia will depart from Armenia on December 11.
