President Serzh Sargsyan received the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby.
The President of Armenia and the Special Representative discussed the growing agenda of the Armenia-EU cooperation. They concurred that the Eastern Partnership program contains considerable potential for cooperation and would instill new meaning to EU-Armenia relations.
President Sargsyan and Peter Semneby spoke also about the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations. The President of Armenia underscored once again that from the outset the parties have been conducting negotiations and reached agreements based on the understanding that the two countries should establish relations without preconditions and that any attempt to backside on this principle could jeopardize the entire process.
Peter Semneby reiterated EU’s support for the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations and expressed hope that that historic Armenian initiative would be crowned with success.
