The President of Armenia presented state awards
On the 18th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, President Serzh Sargsyan signed decrees to award a number of individuals from Armenia and Spyurk representing education, culture, science, health care, journalism, aviation, and sports, as well as a number of servicemen from law enforcement agencies and benefactors from the Diaspora with orders and medals of the Republic of Armenia, awarding highest honorary titles and military ranks.
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan handed the awards. Congratulating the recipients of the awards, Serzh Sargsyan said, “Handing awards is a pleasant duty. In this way the state expresses its gratitude and appreciation to its worthy sons and daughters. I thank all those who through their work, flight of their thought and creativity move forward our science and arts, our law enforcement structures and health care system, our culture and sports.
It is not an overstatement to say that people like you constitute the might of any nation, its staying power and promise of rise.
We desire and strive for every citizen of Armenia in his or her work place display same dedication and qualities that you display in yours. I am confident that it will allow us to move forward in giant steps.
I have been awarded myself in the past and I know now obligating and inspiring the award of the Motherland can be. It gives a new impetus and inspires to work even better. I totally understand your feelings.
Today Armenia is going through an important process of reformation and reevaluation and under the circumstances the vigor and enthusiasm of those concerned with the country’s well being become particularly important. Armenia faces serious problems but they are solvable through the joint efforts of our entire nation, including those gathered here today.
I once again congratulate you on the occasion of Independence Day and on receiving high state awards. I wish you happiness, good health, success, and new achievements.”
