President Serzh Sargsyan invited a meeting regarding the college admission exams
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan invited a meeting regarding the college admission exams with the participation of the Heads of regional administrations and officials from the area of education.
The President of Armenia stressed the importance of conducting the admission examinations on a high and proper level and said that progress registered in that area was also a result of this kind of meetings.
Articulating his expectations regarding the admission process this year, President Sargsyan said, “With regard to their organizational component, the admission exams this year must be conducted better than last year. The exams should result in the admission of truly the best, most worthy applicants, we should also emerge from the process with some lessons learned and for the next year even a more improved admission mechanism should be installed.”
Serzh Sargsyan pointed out three parties of the higher education institution admission process: the Government, represented by the Ministry of Science and Education, regional administrations, and supervising bodies.
The President said that he expects the Ministry of Science and Education to administer the examination process according to the rules of procedure, to monitor the entire process within the scope of the Ministry’s legal responsibilities, as well as to insure the transparency of the graduation and admission examinations and availability of relevant information.
President Sargsyan noted that he expects the Heads of regional administrations to provide organizational including technical assistance to the examination centers, to establish calm and undisturbed atmosphere around these centers, as well as to totally eliminate any interference, including personal, in the examination process.
The President of Armenia demanded the Minister of Education and Science to be determined and principled. He also instructed the relevant bodies to constantly monitor the entire process.
President Sargsyan tasked the Heads of regional administrations and those responsible for education area to report on the readiness of the system for the examination process and resolution of all organizational and preparatory matters.
