Took place the 18th sitting of the Board of Trustees of the All-Armenian Hayastan Fund
The 18th sitting of the Board of Trustees of the All-Armenian Hayastan Fund, which was presided over by the Chairman of the Board, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan took place today in Yerevan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Samvel Karapetian, Sergei Hambartsumian, Gagik Tsarukian, Seiran Karapetian, Genadi Stepanian, Edik Khachatrian, as well as VivaCell and Hayrusgazard Companies were presented with the Honorary Member of the Fund certificates for their assistance to the programs of the Fund and donations of over 1,5 million USD.
Karabakh Telecom Company, which donated 500.000 USD to the Fund, was presented with the Benevolent Member of the Fund certificate.
Businessmen Michael Bagdassarov and Sambel Alexanian, who donated 250.000-500.000 USD to the Fund, were presented with the Supporting Member of the Fund certificates.
Under the first item of the agenda, the Charter of the Fund was amended and there was introduced the new position of the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, who will also become a member of the Bureau of the Board of Trustees. Arkadi Ghukassian, the former President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Ambassador and Special Envoy was elected to that position.
It was decided that the newly established position of the Minister for Diaspora Affairs should also be incorporated in the Board of Trustees. The Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamian, the Minister of Diaspora Affairs Hranoush Hakopian, the Chairman of the Central Bank Arthur Javadian, and the Chairman of the State Revenues Committee Gagik Khachatrian were elected the ex officio members of the Board.
The Fund’s Board has been expanded to include the representative of the Russian Federation. The President of Armenia said that the move was justified since Russia has the largest Armenian Diaspora. The well-known benefactor and businessman Samvel Karapetian, will serve as the representative of the Russian Federation on the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan Fund. It was also decided to include him in the Bureau of the Board.
The benefactor Louis Simon Manukian left the Bureau of the Board due to her busy schedule and various other engagements. The President of Armenia expressed gratitude to Mrs. Louis Simon Manukian for efficient cooperation. It was decided to award Mrs. Manukian with the title the Honorary Member of Board of Trustees.
The Board has also decided to appoint Ara Vardanian the Director of the Executive Council of the Fund.
At the conclusion of the sitting, noting that the Board of Trustees of the All-Armenian Hayastan Fund comprises the heads of all essential Diaspora structures and representatives of all major Armenian communities abroad, the President of Armenia said, “So far, our meetings have been limited by the discussions of the Fund’s current programs. I have decided from now on to use the sittings of the Board of Trustees to present to you the developments of the issues that are of all-Armenian significance.” Afterwards, the President of Armenia spoke about the efforts directed at the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations and the NK peace process.
