President Serzh Sargsyan received Ministers of Interior of the states member to the CSTO
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received participants to the meeting of the Ministers of Interior of the states member to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Secretary General of the CSTO, Nikolay Bordjuzha. This format of the Yerevan meeting of the CSTO Ministers of Interior is first of its kind.
The President of Armenia said that cooperation of the law enforcement bodies in the framework of CSTO was among most successful instances of cooperation and noted that problems in this area were almost similar for all participating states which provided a strong basis for cooperation. He also stressed the importance of a closer bilateral cooperation of the CSTO member states.
Assessing the Yerevan meeting as successful, the Secretary General of the Organization Nikolay Bordjuzha noted that one of the issues on the agenda of the meeting was the issue of rapid respond force formation. The decision to create the force was adopted on February 4, 2009 during the extraordinary summit in Moscow.
At the meeting discussed was a large scope of issues pertaining to cooperation of the CSTO law enforcement bodies. It was noted that the law enforcement bodies are facing new challenges and threats and in order to face them they should join efforts and cooperate more closely. From the viewpoint of increasing efficiency of the police force, the parties stressed the importance of personnel training and technical modernization of the structure.
