The newly appointed judges are sworn in
By the February 27 decree of President Serzh Sargsyan, Aghasi Darbinian was appointed a judge in the Court of general jurisdiction of Aragatsont marz, Avag Gabrielian and Serob Manoukian were appointed judges in the Court of general jurisdiction of Gegharkunik marz.
Today, at the session of the Justice Council attended the President of Armenia, there took place the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed judges. Assuming nomination they swore to “execute their duties according to the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, to be unbiased and principled, fair and humane, to solemnly fulfill all the requirements of the office, upholding the supremacy of law and high prestige of the judicial authorities”.
Congratulating the newly appointed judges, President Sargsyan said, “This day is a special and solemn day for you. You have sworn before the people of Armenia to serve justice and to be fair. I have said before that the greatest discontent in our society is with the courts and the greatest demand is for justice. That’s the reality, and this demand for justice must first be met in the courts. You are assuming the position of judges in a society where people are tied to each other by thousands of visible and invisible threads, where almost all people are somehow connected and where, unfortunately, in many cases it is not customary to refuse friends or relatives. In these conditions you must be vigilant, open-minded, and fair.”
The President of Armenia stressed the importance of allegiance to the pledge and wished the newly appointed judges all the best.
