President Serzh Sargsyan received the General Abbot of St. Lazar Congregation Eghia Qilaghpian
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the General Abbot, Senior Archimandrite of St. Lazar Congregation Eghia Qilaghpian and Director of the Mkhitarian Educational Foundation in Armenia, Father Serob Chamourlian.
The President of Armenia praised highly the historic role of the Mkhitarian Congregation and noted that it has been and remains an important spiritual and cultural center. “Our diversity is our strength,” – stressed the President of Armenia and said that Armenia as a state must be interested in the activities of the Congregation and provide possible assistance for the resolution of the existing problems.
Noting that it is their desire to continue the 300-year long service and Armenia dedicated activities, the General Abbot, Senior Archimandrite of St. Lazar Congregation Eghia Qilaghpian said that each foreigner who visits St. Lazar Island first of all encounters the Armenian culture.
The members of the Congregation spoke to the President of Armenia about their concerns, particularly about the staffing issues and the future programs. The two sides spoke also about Murad-Rafaelian School, the activities of the Mkhitarian Educational Foundation, joint programs, and implementation of cultural projects.
The President of Armenia assured the guests that the Armenian state within its abilities is ready to provide assistance to the Congregation to solve the emerging problems.
