President Serzh Sargsyan has invited a working meeting related to the assassination of the Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan has invited a working meeting related to the assassination of the Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police, Gevork Mherian.
Speaking about the tragic event, the President of Armenia noted that he had maintained constant contact from Moscow with the participants of the meeting and was familiar with the process of investigation. President Sargsyan ordered to provide a most scrupulous report on the current stage of the investigation, revealed clues, evidence, and possible versions of events. The President of Armenia said that “tens of thousands of people were shocked by this brutal crime, it caused pain, indignation, and resentment. Bullets of the criminals were aimed not only at a certain individual, at an official but at the entire police force, the entire law enforcement system. Lately, Gevork Mherian’s activities were directed at the elimination of the corruption mechanisms and we must realize that. We must realize that and give adequate response. Our activities should be conditioned by this consideration as well.”
The Chief of Police Alik Sarkissian, the Head of the National Security Service Gorik Hakopian, the Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepian, and the Head of the investigating task force Hektor Sardarian reported to the President of Armenia the details of the inquest and related main directions of the investigation. The President of Armenia ordered to provide regular reports on the process of investigation and take all necessary steps to solve the crime.
