President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Armenian Ombudsman

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Armenian Ombudsman Armen Harutyunian. At the meeting discussed were issues related to the general situation with human rights and liberties in Armenia as well as pending actions in that area.

The President of Armenia directed the Minister of Justice and President’s Assistant on legal issues to conduct an official investigation at the penitentiary institutions regarding recent alarm calls on the possible use of violence against the detainees. Ombudsman Armen Harutyunian agreed to participate in the mentioned investigation.
