President Serzh Sargsyan received Nikolay Ryzhkov
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation of the Armenia-Russia interparliamentary cooperation commission headed by the member of the RF Federal Council of the Federal Assembly, Chairman of the commission Nikolay Ryzhkov.
According to the President of Armenia, the very fact that the 15th session of the commission was entirely dedicated to the events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 1988 earthquake proves once again the existence of warm and friendly relations between the two peoples and the two countries.
Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia remembers with respect and gratitude all the nations and the Russian people in particular, that come to our assistance. He noted with satisfaction that just like 20 years ago, Nikolay Ryzhkov is once again in Armenian, with the Armenian people.
The Russian parliamentarians said that they considered it to be their duty to be on this day in Armenia, side by side with the people of Armenia.
Nikolay Ryzhkov handed to the President of Armenia the replica of the monument constructed in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the tragedy and approved by the Board of Trustees headed by him which is to be unveiled on December 7 in Gyumri. He also presented him “The Bell of Memory” book written in Armenian and Russian, which comprises official documents and recollections of those who participated at the relief efforts after the earthquake.
