President Serzh Sargsyan received Ministers of Defense of the Collective Security Treaty Organization
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Ministers of Defense of the Collective Security Treaty Organization who arrived to Yerevan to participate at the Ministerial Council meeting. The meeting is also attended by the Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolay Bordjuzha.
At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the CSTO Ministerial Council congratulated President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the President of the Armenian Chess Federation, with the brilliant success of the Armenian national men’s team at the World Chess Olympiad.
The President of Armenia said that as the leader of the country presiding currently at the CSTO, he is satisfied in general by the level of interaction within the organization.
Stressing the primary role of the military-political as well as the military-technical cooperation and importance of strengthening the military factor of the collective security, the President of Armenia stressed the importance of a fuller and a more efficient utilization of the existing potential. According to Serzh Sargsyan, the military-political situation in the region under the CSTO’s responsibility demands serious coordination of the activities and the upgraded level of cooperation.
Serzh Sargsyan said that he was intended to discuss this issue with his counterparts at the December meeting of the leaders of the CSTO member states.
Reporting on the agenda of the Yerevan meeting, the Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanian noted that the strengthening of the CSTO’s military component, avenues for development of the organization and relevant mechanisms have been the main topic of the discussions.
