President Serzh Sargsyan met with the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Marios Garoyan
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Marios Garoyan and his delegation.
The President of Armenia stressed the importance of Marios Garioyan’s visit to Armenia both as the President of the Parliament of brotherly Cyprus as well as a compatriot who has reached prominence by occupying such a high position.
Marios Garoyan said that he was very proud to visit Armenia – the land of his ancestors.
In his words, Cyprus strives to further expand friendly relations between the two countries and the two peoples. The President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus expressed confidence that his visit would open a new page in the relations of the Parliaments of the two states.
Noting, that Marios Garoyan occupies the highest post among the Armenians living outside Armenia, Serzh Sargyan said, “In Armenia we are genuinely proud for your success.” According to the President, this fact proves once again that our people do possess important qualities since being spread all over the world they have adopted one important principle – to easily integrate in the society of the host country, to be a loyal citizen of that country first and then an Armenian.
Serzh Sargsyan noted with satisfaction the high level of the political dialogue between Armenia and Cyprus and efficient cooperation in international structures. He also noted that the two countries have a vast area of cooperation in the framework of the EU neighborhood policy.
According to the parties, the visit of the President of Cyprus to Armenia, scheduled next year, would become a serious impetus for the further development of the Armenian-Cypriot relations.
