Today President Serzh Sargsyan received Assistant Secretary of United State Daniel Fried.
The President of Armenia said that Armenia is interested in enhancing relations with the United States and views them as a strong guarantee of the economic development, strengthening of democracy and regional stability.
The parties spoke about the Armenian-American cooperation, prospects and opportunities of its development, exchanged views on the issues of regional security, and the NK peace process.
Both sides agreed that the negotiations in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group were the most efficient format for the resolution of the conflict. They also agreed that the resolution of the conflict must be based on the basic principles of international law.
The President of Armenia and the Assistant Secretary of State spoke also about the possibilities of improving the Armenian-Turkish relations.
Discussed were also issues pertaining to the post-election developments in Armenia, investigation related to the March 1 events, and persons in custody. The importance of the strengthening democratic institutions in Armenia also was underscored.
