The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to the Republic of Armenia, Mary Yovanovich presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan

Today the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, Mary Yovanovich presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the Ambassador on her nomination, President Sargsyan said that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of all-inclusive relations with the US. He expressed gratitude to the Government of the United States for the assistance that has been provided to Armenia from the first days of independence. Serzh Sargsyan also hailed the role of the United States in its capacity of a Minsk Group Co-Chair in the resolution of the NK conflict.

The newly appointed Ambassador handed to the President of Armenia the congratulatory message by President Bush on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day.

Stressing the readiness of the US to assist Armenia in her progress toward democracy and free market economy, the American diplomat said that she would do her best to further promote and deepen the bilateral relations.

On behalf of the US Government Mary Yovanovich praised the bold initiative of President Sargsyan to invite the Turkish President to Armenia and noted that it has been a historic event for the entire region and would foster peace and stability.

At the meeting the two sides spoke also about the Armenian-American economic cooperation and exchanged views on the regional developments.

President Sargsyan assured the US Ambassador that during her tenure she would receive the utmost assistance of the Armenian authorities.
