President Serzh Sargsyan received José Lello, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly
Today President Serzh Sargsyan received José Lello, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
The President of Armenia expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation with NATO, noting that Armenia views it as a component of its security. According to Serzh Sargsyan, the Individual Partnership Action Plan provides Armenia with the opportunity to have a defense system matching the international standards.
Jose Lello said that the Armenian Parliament is well represented at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
The two sides exchanged views on the situation in the region and on the recent events and developments. According to the parties, recent events in Georgia proved once again the vitality of establishing alternative routs for Armenia.
The President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly stressed Armenia’s importance in the region’s security system and said that NATO anticipates active cooperation for the benefit of creating a reliable security environment.
Mr. Lello praised the “football diplomacy” of the Armenian President. Noting that he is for dialogue and expressing confidence that a dialogue opens possibility to discuss virtually any, even the thorniest issues, Serzh Sargsyan said, “Our goal is to establish with Turkey rational, logical relations such as accepted in civilized world. It will bring stability to the region and cooperation between our nations will bring prosperity.”
