Today President Serzh Sargsyan received Goran Lennmarker, the Special Representative for Karabakh of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
The two sides discussed issues related to the situation in the South Caucasus, NK peace process, and the Armenian-Turkish relations.
Noting that Mr. Lennmarker has arrived to the region on an important mission, the President of Armenia stressed once again the danger and thoughtlessness of the efforts to solve conflicts through violent force.
According to Serzh Sargsyan, Armenia anticipates the reaction of the corresponding international structures to the unprecedented enforcement of the military force by some countries and their belligerent calls.
In Goran Lennmarkers words, the recent developments in the region proved that the conflicts cannot be solved through military means, and that genuine resolution is possible only through the peaceful negotiations.
The Special Representative for Karabakh of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly hailed the policy conducted by Armenia in the region, as well as the invitation extended by Serzh Sargsyan to the President of Turkey to watch together the football match between the national teams of the two states. “Undoubtedly, it was not an easy decision taking into consideration the existing problems and emotions between Armenia and Turkey but you displayed sound judgment and came up with a strong move, “ stressed Goran Lennmarker.
Noting that it was a difficult but necessary decision, Serzh Sargsyan said that any problem should be solved through a dialogue and negotiations. “I harbor no illusions that all the issues will be solved in a short period of time. However I think that launching the process was the right thing to do,” stressed the President of Armenia.
