Today the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev. On behalf of the people of Armenia and his own behalf Serzh Sargsyan expressed condolences on the occasion of numerous victims among the civilians, including citizens of Russia and the Russian peacekeepers, which resulted from the recent tragic events in South Ossetia.

During the conversation Dmitri Medvedev informed Serzh Sargsyan about the process of negotiations aimed at the resolution of the current situation.

The leaders of the two states agreed to hold if necessary additional consultations regarding the ensuing developments.
