Today President of Armenia Serzh Sarkissian held a working meeting to discuss the preparatory process for the common examinations which start on June 2
Present at the meeting were Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration, Armen Gevorkian, Head of Presidential Staff Hovik Abrahamian, Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchian, Mayor of Yerevan, and Heads of regional administrations.
President Sarkissian said that last year joint efforts produced some positive results regarding admission exams for the higher education institutions and school graduation examinations.
The President of Armenia said that this year the opportunities are much better since organizational works were going on to the last day. “We are required to perform a very simple task: to be principled, fair, and persistent. Undoubtedly, saying it is easy and doing it much more difficult but we must. Without giving the best solution to that problem we won’t be able to continue the reforms either in the school level or at the colleges and universities’ level,” stressed the President of Armenia.
Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchian spoke about the preparatory process for the general examinations, noting that based on the last year’s experience some adjustments have been made. He assured that in the capital as well as in the regions at this moment everything is ready for the implementation of the system of common exams. According to the Minister, the whole examination process will be open and transparent: it will be video recorded and any one can follow the process. Levon Mkrtchian said that all the procedures have been verified and if they are strictly observed, the fairness of exams is guaranteed since the established mechanisms give no other choice.
