The newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania presented his credentials

Today the newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of Armenia Gedrus Apuokas presented his credentials to President Serzh Sarkissian.

The Ambassador said that he is highly honored to be the first resident Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia and would do his best to further promote cooperation between the two states.

Congratulating the Ambassador, President Sarkissian welcomed the decision of the Lithuanian Government to open Embassy in our country and said that Armenia intends to reciprocate.

The President of Armenia assessed the Armenian-Lithuanian relations as friendly and effective. Stressing the high level of the political dialogue between the two countries, he underlined the importance of fostering the economic cooperation, which is still inadequate even though there is a great potential and the corresponding legal field has been formed.

Serzh Sarkissian attached importance not only to bilateral but also to multilateral cooperation, including the one in the framework of the New Neighborhood policy. Noting that the European direction is a priority for Armenia, President observed that the Baltic States acquired significant experience which can be very useful and instrumental for us.

The President of Armenia hailed the continuing readiness of the Lithuanian side to provide advisory assistance for the implementation of reforms in different areas.
