Today President Serzh Sarkissian received the representative of the American Jewish Committee, Ambassador Peter Rosenblatt, Director of Strategic Studies of the Committee Barry Jacobs, and Executive Director of the Armenian-American Public Affairs Committee Ross Vartian.

According to President Sarkissian, Armenia is interested in further developing relations with the United States and views them as an important guarantee of economic development, strengthening of democracy and regional stability.

Introducing the American Jewish Committee, Peter Rosenblatt noted that it is one of the major Jewish organizations and is intensely involved in international relations. He also said that they have been following developments in the South Caucasus region since 1990s and are well familiar with the situation. The last time the AJC delegation conducted a visit to Armenia was in 1999.

Interest of the American Jewish Committee toward Armenia and Armenian issues Peter Rosenblatt conditioned by close relations with the Armenian community of the United States.

The parties discussed also issues pertaining to the Armenian-Turkish relations and opening of the border.

President Sarkissian reiterated that Armenia is interested in developing normal relations with all neighboring countries and that the official Yerevan has stated once and again that is ready to establish relations with Turkey without preconditions.

At the meeting discussed were also issues related to Armenia-Israel relations.
