Working visit of the President Vahagn Khachaturyan to the State of Qatar

President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is in the State of Qatar on a working visit, participated in the opening ceremony of the Qatar Economic Forum.

Following the official ceremony, the President of the Republic of Armenia met with Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The President expressed gratitude to the Emir for the invitation and congratulated him on organizing the Qatar Economic Forum at a high level.

During the meeting, Vahagn Khachaturyan highlighted the importance of the consistent development of close friendly relations between Armenia and the Arab world and the willingness of both sides on this matter.

In his speech, the President presented to the Emir the details about the realities in the South Caucasus region and the essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia is committed to establishing peace in the region and good relations with neighboring countries.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani noted in his speech that he is aware of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and hopes that the developments will lead to achieving the agenda of sustainable peace. The Emir noted that currently there are 10 flights from Qatar to Armenia and vice versa on weekly basis which attests to the potential for cooperation between the two countries. Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also stressed that the establishment of stability and peace in the region will contribute to the further development of relations.

During the discussion, the sides touched upon the possibility of opening the Embassy of Qatar in Armenia, the importance of the latter was highlighted by both sides which may raise the Armenian-Qatari economic, agricultural, political, cultural cooperation to a new level.

Concluding the meeting, the President of the Republic of Armenia invited the Emir of Qatar to visit Armenia.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, within the framework of his working visit to the State of Qatar.

During the meeting, the Minister presented to President Khachaturyan the reforms carried out over the recent years in Qatar in the field of education and the main directions of the latter. Minister Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi specifically noted that education is included as one of the priority areas in Qatar's development strategy by 2030.

During the discussion, the sides touched upon a wide range of issues related to the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and science. They addressed the best practices in education reforms as well as the implementation of joint student exchange programs.
Both sides emphasized the importance of special state support to education and science as well as the development of an industrial economy based on applied science.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan highlighted his willingness to support the implementation of joint programs and initiatives between Qatar and Armenia in education, science and related fields.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the State of Qatar Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai within the framework of his working visit to the State of Qatar. The meeting was also attended by RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the possibilities and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of high technologies.

During the discussion, the sides touched upon the implementation of joint initiatives and programs in the areas that are of mutual interest and have significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.

They addressed the pace of information technologies development in the present-day world and the pathways for overcoming the emerging challenges as well as the implementation of technological reforms in public administration and private sectors.

Concluding the meeting, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Qatar, Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, invited his counterpart Robert Khachatryan to participate in the Web Conference to be held in Qatar which will enable revealing the great potential for cooperation in the respective fields of the two countries.

Agreement was reached to continue close communication and expand the scope of cooperation in the near future.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva within the scope of the Qatar Economic Forum.

The President highly valued Armenia's effective cooperation with the IMF. The Managing Director, in turn, specifically emphasized Armenia's impressive financial indicators recently stressing that with the establishment of peace in the region the economy may experience a greater growth.

During the meeting, the sides also touched upon the post-pandemic economic recovery processes as well as exchanged insights on their impact on economic development and progress in the setting of existing global challenges.

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Qatar Foundation and the Qatar Science and Technology Park within the framework of his working visit to the State of Qatar. The President toured the technology park, familiarized himself with the main directions and areas of activity of the Foundation and the technology park and made a note in the book of the guests of honor of the Foundation.

The science and technology park is one of the key entities of the Qatar Foundation. It is a world-renowned technology development center that plays a crucial role in the development of Qatar's innovation ecosystem.

The science and technology park was officially launched by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Missned on March 16, 2009. It was established as a center of excellence for technology companies worldwide and to serve as a platform for startups.

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Qatar National Library in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and had a meeting with the President of the Library, State Minister of Qatar Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari.

During the meeting, the sides touched upon issues related to the prospects of cooperation between the Qatar National Library and the Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots in Yerevan in the field of bibliography. Both sides emphasized the wide range of opportunities for cooperation in the field of bibliography.

The President also toured the library, familiarized himself with the depository of ancient Arabic manuscripts, and made a note in the book of guests of honor.

Afterwards, President Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar.

The President answered the questions of the representatives of the Armenian community, emphasized the need to strengthen the ties between Armenia and the Diaspora, addressed the possibility of Diaspora Armenians to engage in business and economic activities in Armenia and other issues.
