Working visit of the President Armen Sarkissian to Saudi Arabia

The date of October 26, 2021 will mark the special page in the history of Armenian-Arab relations, particularly those between the Republic of Armenia and Saudi Arabia.

RA President Armen Sarkissian paid a working visit to Saudi Arabia. This unprecedented event is definitely a turning point in Armenia's international relations.

In the absence of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Saudi Arabia since Armenia's independence, when no official from Armenia had ever visited that country, the President of Armenia took a historic step, visiting for the first time a country with a unique role and significance in the Arab and Islamic world.

At the airport of the capital of Saudi Arabia, President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian was welcomed at the highest state level in the person of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir. According to the official protocol, the state flag of the Republic of Armenia was hoisted at the airport.

The President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian paid the first visit to Saudi Arabia, one of the pivotal countries of the Arab-Islamic world, in the history of independent Armenia.

Within the framework of that visit, which is of exceptional importance in the history of Armenian-Arab relations, particularly those between the Republic of Armenia and Saudi Arabia, the President of Armenia visited the 5th Conference of the "Future Investment Initiative."

Heads of many states, members of governments, heads of well-known transnational and global companies, also businessmen attended the Conference.

President Sarkissian together with the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman attended the opening ceremony of the conference.

The President of Armenia, and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia talked about the need to develop relations between the two countries and their future. It was noted that the rich historical ties between the two peoples are a good basis for building future interstate relations.

President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian left Saudi Arabia for the United Arab Emirates on a working visit.

The state flag of the Republic of Armenia was hoisted at the airport in the capital city of Riyadh. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir escorted the President of Armenia to the aircraft.
