Working visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to the Kingdom of Netherlands
President Serzh Sargsyan, who has arrived on a working visit at the Kingdom of Netherlands to participate at the Summit of the European People’s Party (EPP), in the morning of October 20th in Maastricht visited the Armenian Sourb Karapet Church where he had a brief meeting with the representatives of the Church Board of “Ani” Armenian community, conversed about their daily life, programs, opportunities for strengthening cooperation with Fatherland, and responded to the questions raised by the participants of the meeting.
“Ani” Armenian community, which was named after the historical Armenian capital, is taking active part in the events of the Armenian-Dutch organizations related to the pan-Armenian issues.
In 2012, by the decision of the Catholic Church of Limburg, the Resurrection of Christ Church was presented to the Armenian community which at the beginning of 2013 was consecrated as Sourb Karapet Church in the memory of the old Armenian Church in Amsterdam. The Church was presented as a token of gratitude to Saint Servantes of the Armenian descent who was considered to be a disciple of Saint Gregory the Illuminator and the saint patron of Maastricht, as well as for the positive contribution of Ani community and the Armenian community of Maastricht in general to the development of the city and the state.

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Maastricht on a working visit, on October 20th, participated at the Summit of the European People’s Party (EPP). The Summit was presided over by the Chairman of the EPP Joseph Dole. Present at the Summit were the President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, Heads of state and government from the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries – members of the EPP.
In the framework of the agenda, the participants of the Summit discussed issues related to the preliminary works of the upcoming session of the European Council, spoke about the recent developments in the refugee crisis, issues related to the EU economy and foreign policy. At the Summit, President Serzh Sargsyan made a statement in which he spoke about regional issues and challenges.
In the government house of Limburg state, which is the venue of the Summit, President Sargsyan also made an inscription in the Golden Book of Honorary Guests.
