Official visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to Ukraine
On July 01, President Serzh Sargsyan arrived at Ukraine on official visit.
Before starting negotiations with the highest leadership of Ukraine, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the Square of Fame in Kiev and laid a wreath at the monument of the Unknown Soldier and memorial of the victims of Golodomor.
After the official welcoming ceremony of the Armenian President, which took place at the Presidential Residence, the Presidents of Armenia and Ukraine held tête-à-tête talks which were followed by the extended meeting with the participation of the official delegations.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, the parties signed documents aimed at the strengthening and development of the Armenian-Ukrainian cooperation in a number of areas. In particular, signed were the Protocol on the Amendments and Changes to the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Ukraine on Air Communication”, “Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia and Ministry of Finance of Ukraine”, Protocol on the Amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Ukraine on cooperation in the area of Government Communications”, “Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia and Ministry of Health of Ukraine”, Protocol of the Fifth session of the “Armenian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.”
Presidents Sargsyan and Yanukovich summarized the results of the negotiations with the Joint Statement for the mass media.

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Ukraine on official visit, after his meeting with President Victor Yanukovich, had a working dinner with the Acting Prime Minister Andrei Klyuev.
At the meeting discussed were issues pertaining to the development of the trade and economic relations between Armenia and Ukraine. The two sides expressed confidence that potential existing in that area has not been fully realized and there are possibilities to find new, efficient ways of cooperation in economy, trade, energy, agriculture, information technologies and a number of other areas, enhancing contacts between the business communities of the two states and utilizing the potential of the intergovernmental commission.
President Serzh Sargsyan met also with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Litvin.
The parties discussed the opportunities of expanding the interparliamentary relations considering the fact that there is a small but active group of the Armenian parliamentarians in the Verkhovna Rada, whose potential can be used for the benefit of strengthening the cooperation between the Parliaments of the two countries.
Vladimir Litvin noted that he will be visiting Armenia soon and in the framework of the visit will attend the first sitting of the interparliamentary friendship group.
The parties stressed the importance of Diaspora as well as the role of culture in deepening relations between the two peoples and two states. With this regard, they highlighted the importance of the Days of Armenia in Ukraine conducted concurrently with the visit of the Armenian President and the Days of Ukraine in Armenia to be conducted next year.

On 02 July, President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Ukraine of official visit, together with President Victor Yanukovich participated at the opening of the Armenian-Ukrainian Business Forum at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine.

President Serzh Sargsyan continues his visit to Ukraine. Last night President Victor Yanukovich gave an official dinner in the honor of the President of Armenia.
At the reception, Serzh Sargsyan once again thanked the Ukrainian side for the warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit. The President noted that Victor Yanukovich’s personal contribution to the elimination of the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Spitak is recalled in Armenia with appreciation. President Sargsyan said that for that very reason it was with great pleasure that he was bestowing on President Yanukovich the highest state award of Armenia – the Order of Saint Mesrop Mashtots.
By the degree of the President of Ukraine, President Serzh Sargsyan was honored with the highest state distinction of Ukraine – Prince Yaroslav the Wise Medal of First Degree. Last night, President Yanukovich handed the award to the President of Armenia.
At the official dinner, Serzh Sargsyan in his speech spoke about common values which bond the Armenian and Ukrainian peoples and about cultural heritage which makes relations between the two nations and two states even stronger. Balayan, the past, present and the future of the Armenian-Ukrainian relations are fortified by the warmth of human hearts and deep mutual respect.
Speaking about the results of his official visit, Serzh Sargsyan noted that they reiterated the reciprocal desire to raise the Armenian-Ukrainian relations to a qualitatively new level. “I am confident that this visit will allow to open new horizons, new frontiers for the Armenian-Ukrainian cooperation in economy as well as in politics, will provide new opportunities for direct people to people contacts, will reinforce our friendship and traditions of mutual respect,” President Sargsyan said in his remarks.
On July 02, in Kiev President Sargsyan visited the National Museum of Literature and attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition of the renowned Armenian artist Vardges Sureniants. Later, the President of Armenia visited the Kiev lavra of the Caves. Afterwards, he met with the representatives of the Armenian community of Ukraine.
