On the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day, the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili sent a congratulatory message to President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The message particularly says:
“On behalf of the Georgian people and my own, I would like to extend to you my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Armenia – the Independence Day.
I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize that this year is particularly important for the relations between our countries, as we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
As sovereign countries, Georgia and Armenia, established diplomatic relations not long ago, nevertheless, they have always been connected by history, and culture, and have always been distinguished by their friendly and good-neighborly spirits.
Today, the relations between our countries are developing dynamically. This is clearly demonstrated by the recent high-level visits.
I express my hope that we will take a number of important steps to strengthen the friendly relations between our countries.
I am confident that in the future, Georgia and Armenia will become even closer to one another and will strengthen their historical ties for the prosperity of our peoples.”
