The Governor-General of Canada congratulated President Armen Sarkissian on the Independence Day

The Governor-General of the Republic of Canada Mary Simon sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian on the Independence Day of Armenia.

The message particularly says:

"Canada attaches great significance to its close friendship with Armenia and supports their efforts to stimulate economic growth, combat all forms of corruption, protect human rights, and strengthen democratic institutions. The long-standing ties between our peoples, strengthened by the tens of thousands of Canadians of Armenian descent, are a powerful bridge between our societies. We look forward to collaborating on a wide range of common priorities, exploring additional opportunities for cooperation in multilateral institutions.”
