President sent a congratulatory message to Peter Balakian on his Pulitzer Prize

 President Serzh Sargsyan sent today a congratulatory message to Peter Balakian who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 2016.

“This is a momentous event for the entire Armenian Nation. You have become the second brilliant son of the Armenian nation – after the genius Armenian-American author William Saroyan - whose superb creations conquered this prestigious height. The Ozone Journal collection of poems, which refers to the Armenian Genocide, has become a logical continuation of your literary legacy.

On the eve of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, this Award is the best response to the perpetrators of the atrocities committed against Armenians one hundred years ago and to their followers. The Award reminds the world once again of the nation reborn which lives and restates in this great world its quintessence – the creation of lasting values,” reads the congratulatory message of the President of Armenia.
