Congratulatory message by president Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of hte 18th Anniversary of the declaration of Armenia`s Independence
Dear Compatriots:
On August 23, 1990, the Supreme Council of Armenia adopted a historic declaration, which stated that the Republic of Armenia took the road toward independence and restoration of her statehood. Thus, the whole world came to know that from now on we would be the masters of our fate and that we assumed the responsibilities before the people of Armenia, the entire Armenian nation, and the international community.
This was the expressed will of the people who stood up to resolutely protect their human and national dignity in Artsakh, Armenia and everywhere where there are Armenians. This was the first legal document which brought us back, now as a political unit, to the international family.
I congratulate all of us with this momentous anniversary – the anniversary which obliges us once again to think over what has been done and to unite for Armenia’s advancement.
